who
As a specialist of the pardessus de viole, Dave has received instruction and coaching from pardessus specialists Joanna Blendulf, and Tina Chancey.
From 2013 - 2017, Dave was co-founder and harpsichordist of Queen City Musicians, a group that specialized in the performance of works of 17th and 18th century France. Since 2017 he regularly performs in homes and small venues as a soloist via host/performer communities such as Groupmuse.
Born in the Philippines, but raised in rural West Virginia, Dave was exposed to diverse musical traditions from a young age: Iberian-influenced music of the Philippines such as rondalla and kundiman, and Appalachian bluegrass played by his grandfather - a longtime fixture of the West Virginia bluegrass circuit as a fiddler and washtub bassist.
Dave received a Bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, attended the University of Colorado at Boulder for Master's studies, and received an Artist Diploma from Cornish College of the Arts; he received primary instruction and coaching from Elizabeth Farr, Byron Schenkman, Stephen Stubbs, and Jillon Stoppels Dupree.
We did operas and stuff!
and cantatas!
even an oratorio!
Dave plays a harpsichord after the 1681 Vaudry by celebrated maker Owen Daly, and a pardessus de viole by Joseph Miraucourt of Verdun/Jametz, France dated 1751.
